Online Learning Meets Productivity Enhancement;
WorkNetSkills Announces Launch of On-Demand Tool
A new solution to employee training
Lansdale, PA, May 1, 2008 – WorkNetSkills
announces the launch of its new website that delivers web-based skills
modules for employees of all industries. Featuring comprehensive,
on-demand services, WorkNetSkills provide the information needed
to help companies and their employees improve efficiency and productivity
while saving both time and money.
“WorkNetSkills was launched because, by itself, traditional training
is less able to meet the needs of today’s employees and employers,”
said Robert Wickman, co-owner and founder of the company. “It’s
expensive, takes people away from their jobs, and there are often
travel costs on top of that. More important, busy employees have
less time to fully immerse themselves in training or do the things
necessary to reinforce changes on the job. So, traditional training
keeps happening at companies across the world, because it’s what
has always been done. But the return on that investment is questionable.
WorkNetSkills provides a solution that better matches the speed,
needs and demands of the modern-day employee. It can be used as a
direct source of work-related information, or in a support role to
conventional training utilizing a ‘blended learning’ approach.”
The web-based modules save considerable time when compared to conventional
classroom training. Most modules take about 20 minutes to complete
and each delivers “what to do” and “how to do it” instructions. The
site includes links to other relevant areas and additional support
material on the WorkNetSkills site. An internal search engine allows
users to search for specific skills or resources.
“The typical model of training is ‘learn today, and then apply tomorrow
on the job,’” Wickman continues. “Our 35 years of experience
in corporate learning has shown us that today the traditional approach
needs to be turned upside-down, placing appropriate skills and tools
in employees’ hands the moment they’re needed. The
tools show specifically how to do a job-related skill right now. Over
time, employee confidence, morale and capabilities build, and people
are better equipped to move the business forward. Performance
support tools can also be a great back-up for training already completed
or anticipated. So, the model becomes ‘apply now, learn through repetition.’
